Guest Speakers

Today we were honored to be visited by Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.  Here are some of the things we learned.
  • Toni Preckwinkle wanted to be in politics since she was 16 years old.
  • She is working on lowering taxes.
  • She was a high school teacher
  • She is part of the legislative branch of government.
  • The county is responsible for public health and safety.  She said 35% of our money goes to public health and 39% goes to public safety.
  • She has been married for 42 years and has two children, a son and a daughter.
After the asseembly we went to Room 310 and listened to Navee talk about nutrition.  We learned:
The skin on fruit has most of the fiber.
Chocolate milk has more sugar than a sinle candy bar.
Too much fat in your blood can stop your blood from running and you can have a heart attack.
Calcium helps you grow tall and boys continue to grow until they are 21 and girls untill\ they are 16.
